Dull, dry or tired-looking skin? Skin boosters revive it from within. They deeply hydrate, repair and renew, smoothing fine lines, brightening your complexion and restoring a healthy glow. None of them add volume or change the shape of your face.
I offer five at my clinic in King’s Cross, near Islington: Profhilo, Profhilo Structura, Teoxane Baby Glow, Lumi Pro and Seventy Hyal. At your consultation I’ll look at your skin and tell you which one will do the job, and which won’t.
What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are injections of hyaluronic acid, a substance your skin makes naturally to hold on to water, and which it loses as we age. Placed in tiny amounts within the skin, it draws in moisture and supports collagen and elastin, so skin looks more hydrated, smoother and brighter. They are not filler: they spread through the skin rather than sitting in one spot to add shape.
Who are skin boosters for?
Most of my clients are over 40 and want to look rested and fresher, without changing their face. Skin boosters are a good fit if you notice:
- tired-looking skin, dullness or dehydration
- fine lines and early signs of ageing
- loss of firmness, or skin that has lost its bounce
- a “run down” look that a good night’s sleep doesn’t fix
They are not suitable while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Everything else we’ll cover at your consultation.
Profhilo
Profhilo is one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, with 64mg in every 2ml. It helps to nourish the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increase firmness. It stimulates collagen and elastin fibres and evens skin tone, for an overall improvement in the quality of your skin.
It goes in at five points on each side of the face and spreads evenly through the skin over the following day or two. It can also be used on the neck.
The usual protocol is two sessions, about 4 weeks apart. 90% of my Profhilo clients come back for their second session. Results last on average 6 months. One session costs £250.
Profhilo Structura
Profhilo Structura is designed to create a natural internal “scaffold”, helping to improve facial support, reduce the appearance of sagging and jowling, and enhance lower face definition. It suits you if you’re noticing early signs of skin laxity, and it’s also an excellent preventative treatment to help maintain facial structure and slow the visible signs of ageing.
Expect a naturally refreshed, subtly lifted appearance with no drastic changes. You need 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart. One session costs £300.
What’s the difference between Profhilo and Profhilo Structura?
Same family, different depth, different job.
- Profhilo works in the skin. It is for skin quality: hydration, fine lines, crepiness and glow.
- Profhilo Structura goes deeper, into the layer of fat beneath the skin at the sides of the face. It is for support: where the face has started to hollow or sag and the jawline has softened.
Put simply, Profhilo improves the fabric and Structura supports what’s underneath. If your skin needs both, the Profhilo Sculpt & Shine package puts them together: two sessions of Profhilo for hydration and plumping, followed by two sessions of Profhilo Structura for definition and firmness. The package costs £847, a saving of £253.
Teoxane Baby Glow
Baby Glow enhances light reflection for a healthy, luminous glow while improving skin texture, elasticity and overall radiance. It’s the one to choose if you want that “lit from within” look with natural, long-lasting results.
It combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids, vitamins and micronutrients to hydrate, brighten and revitalise your skin. I recommend a course of two treatments, 4 weeks apart, for the best results. One session costs £250.
Lumi Pro
Lumi Pro is for a dewy, glass skin result. It delivers intense hydration, promotes collagen stimulation and gives an effortless glow. It hydrates, firms and tightens the skin, and you can see results in as little as 48 hours. It contains 40mg of hyaluronic acid per 2ml.
For maximum results I recommend 3 sessions, about 4 weeks apart. One session costs £150, or a course of three costs £385, saving you £65. The course is on my packages page.
Seventy Hyal
Seventy Hyal 2000 is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment that improves hydration levels within the skin. Along with that surge of moisture, it stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. In short, it replaces some of the hyaluronic acid your skin loses as you age. It contains 30mg of hyaluronic acid per 2ml.
I recommend a course of two treatments, 4 weeks apart, for the best results. Results last on average 6 months. One session costs £150.
Which skin booster is right for me?
A rough guide:
| Treatment | Best for | Usual course | Per session |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profhilo | Dry, crepey or tired skin that has lost its bounce | 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart | £250 |
| Profhilo Structura | Early sagging, jowling or a softer jawline | 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart | £300 |
| Teoxane Baby Glow | Dullness; a “lit from within” glow | 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart | £250 |
| Lumi Pro | A dewy, glass skin finish | 3 sessions | £150, or £385 for 3 |
| Seventy Hyal | Hydration and replacing lost hyaluronic acid | 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart | £150 |
Still not sure? That’s what the consultation is for. It costs £30, fully redeemable against treatment on the day. For a closer look at how these products differ, read Profhilo vs skin boosters.
If your skin needs repair more than hydration, for example thin, crepey or sun-damaged skin under the eyes or on the neck, polynucleotides may suit you better. I explain the difference in polynucleotides vs Profhilo. For texture, pores and scarring, look at microneedling.
What happens at your appointment?
Each appointment takes 45 minutes. We start by talking through your skin, your goals and your medical history, so I can confirm the right product for you. I cleanse your skin, then place a series of small injections. You’ll feel a sharp scratch with each one.
Afterwards you may see small raised bumps where I’ve injected, which usually settle within 24 to 48 hours, and some mild redness, swelling or bruising. For the first 24 hours, avoid make-up, strenuous exercise, saunas and hot baths. Most people go straight back to work.
