If your skin’s texture bothers you more than any line or wrinkle, microneedling is the treatment to look at. It prompts your skin to repair itself and make fresh collagen, and over a course that shows as smoother, firmer, more even skin. I finish every session with exosomes, applied to the skin, to support its recovery.
I do every treatment myself, at my clinic on Pentonville Road in King’s Cross, a short walk from King’s Cross St Pancras and easy to reach from Islington.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a device with very fine needles to make thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin treats them as small injuries and responds by producing new collagen and elastin. Session by session, that rebuilds the skin’s structure from within.
It’s not about adding anything to your face. It’s about getting your own skin to do more of what it did when you were younger.
What are exosomes, and why add them?
Exosomes are tiny particles that cells release to send signals to one another. The exosome products used in skin clinics are made in a laboratory and applied to the skin straight after microneedling, while those tiny channels are still open.
They are intended to support healing, help settle redness and boost the skin’s own repair. Exosomes are a newer addition to skin treatments, and there is far less research on them than on microneedling itself. The early studies are encouraging but small, so I think of exosomes as a helpful extra: the microneedling is what builds the collagen.
What can microneedling help with?
Microneedling is best known for improving skin texture. It can help with:
- rough or uneven texture
- enlarged-looking pores
- fine lines
- acne scarring and marks left after breakouts
- dull, tired-looking skin
Most of my clients are over 40 and want fresher, smoother skin without changing their face. Whatever your age, the aim is the same: skin that looks healthy, not treated.
It suits most skin types, including darker skin tones, where it tends to carry a lower risk of pigmentation changes than lasers or strong peels.
It isn’t suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s also not for you right now if you have active acne or a skin infection in the area, a history of keloid scarring, or you have recently taken isotretinoin for acne. We’ll go through your medical history at your consultation.
How many microneedling sessions will I need?
I recommend 6 sessions, 4 weeks apart. Collagen builds slowly, and each session adds to the last. Your skin can look fresher after one session, but real changes in texture and scarring come from the full course.
How much does microneedling cost?
A single session is a good way to see how your skin responds. The course of six is the best value per session, and it’s the one I recommend if texture or scarring is your main concern.
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Single session | £250 |
| Course of 3 | £610, saving £140 |
| Course of 6 | £1,150, saving £350 |
The courses are also on my packages page, alongside my other courses and Transformation Packages. You pay a deposit online when you book, and the balance on the day.
What happens at your appointment?
Each appointment takes an hour.
- Consultation and skin check. We talk through your skin, your goals and your medical history.
- Preparation. I cleanse your skin and apply numbing cream to keep you comfortable.
- Microneedling. I work across your face section by section, adjusting the depth to each area. Most people describe it as a light scratching or vibrating feeling.
- Exosomes. I apply the exosomes straight after, while the skin is most receptive.
You’ll leave with pink, warm skin, a little like mild sunburn.
Downtime and aftercare
Expect redness for 24 to 48 hours, and your skin may feel tight or dry for a few days after that.
For the first few days:
- no make-up for 24 hours
- no gym, sauna, steam room or swimming for 48 hours
- skip retinol, acids and scrubs until your skin has settled
- wear SPF every day and keep out of strong sun
I’ll go through your aftercare with you before you leave. As with any treatment, plan it for a time when you don’t have an event coming up. I’d allow at least a week before anything you’ll be photographed at.
Microneedling with skin boosters and polynucleotides
Microneedling works on the surface: texture, pores and scarring. It pairs well with treatments that work on hydration and repair. Profhilo and skin boosters add deep hydration and bounce, and polynucleotides help repair thin or tired skin. I schedule microneedling on a different day from injections into the same area, usually at least 2 weeks apart.
My skin treatments guide explains how the three compare and which order makes sense.
Why have microneedling with me?
I work alone, so the person who assesses your skin is the person who treats it, every session of your course. I’ll adjust each treatment as your skin changes, rather than repeating the same settings six times. My clients have given me a 5.0 rating across more than 100 Google reviews.
The clinic is at 260 Pentonville Road, N1 9JY, inside Minsony: push the front door and take a seat in reception. It’s a short walk from King’s Cross St Pancras, and Angel is walkable too.
